AusGroup awarded more fabrication work on the Gorgon Project

Thursday, Nov 01, 2012

AusGroup Limited subsidiary, AGC Industries Pty Ltd („AGC‟), a leading Australian based fabrication and construction group, today announced it has secured fabrication work with Subsea 7, a seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services contractor to the offshore energy industry worldwide.

The contract is for the fabrication of post metrology subsea spools for the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project. Preparation work will commence immediately with the six-month fabrication program starting in late 2013.

The work will be performed at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) quay side facility in Henderson, south of Perth, Western Australia. It is expected to create work for approximately 60 new staff, based at the AMC.

Upon completion, the spools will be loaded onto barges for direct transportation to the Gorgon fields west of Barrow Island, Western Australia.

AGC‟s experience and facilities were the contributing factors towards the award from Subsea 7. The work to be performed is highly critical and requires regulated quality procedures. AGC‟s systems, previous performance, commitment to safety and experience provide confidence with clients when undertaking such work.

AGC is pleased to expand its portfolio of works on the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project as it increases its presence in the LNG sector. Laurie Barlow, AusGroup CEO and Managing Director, said “Our growing involvement on the Gorgon Project is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to provide high quality services to the oil and gas industry.”

The Gorgon Project is one of the world‟s largest natural gas projects and the single largest resource development in Australia‟s history. It is operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (47.3 percent), with the Australian subsidiaries of ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).
